It is however worth noting that erythritol, one of the high intensity sweeteners, has been alleged to heighten the risks of blood clotting and stroke though the evidence for this is very weak. Though erythritol is for the most part recognized as safe, as it is used as a sweetener in foods and drinks, certain researches indicate that erythritol has coagulation and clotting factors. 

 Another study while published in the British Journal of Nutrition also indicated that erythritol increases platelet activation meaning that there are increased chances of blood clotting and thus stroke. However, this study was small and it has not been confirmed in other studies that included a large population. 

 Journal of Food Science and Technology, another study conducted also revealed that erythritol may slow the rate of some enzymes which leads to blood clotting hence posing a danger to stroke. 

 However, it is also necessary to mention that this information is rather limited and additional research is needed for better understanding of dangers of erythritol consumption. As for the people who worry about the risk for blood clotting and striving, it seems better to reduce the intake of erythritol and other sugar substitutes as much as possible and try to eat natural whole foods instead. Moreover, people should not forget about consulting their doctor if they decide to make drastic changes in their diet.
